The Busy Days Of Glen Davis Are But A Memory.

Oil shale was mined and refined at Glen Davis from 1938 to 1952. The refinery ruins are on private property and are closed to the public (I happened to read the signs when I was going back out through the fence). There are still three or four closed shop fronts left in the 'town'.

More photos from this weekend can be seen on my other blog:  Travels in a Shoebox

When vegetation takes over.

A view of despair.

Old wire cables.

Colour covers the cracks.

A pipeline no more.

Now only catches half the wind.

Still keeps the horses in the paddock.

I wonder what was sold here.

The last customer had a big fuel tank.

Spins no more.

Many an ice-cream sundae was once enjoyed here.
